Amidst the winding path of life we tread,
Where esophagus meets stomach, danger's thread,
Barrett's name echoes, a condition known,
A tale of cells, in realms their changes sown.

Within the throat, a passage lined with grace,
Squamous soldiers guard, in their rightful place,
But when reflux, that acid tide, ascends,
Columnar troops march forth as nature bends.

GERD, the fiery culprit, takes the stage,
Its acid dance, an inflammation's rage,
Barrett's whispers warnings in its wake,
A precancerous note, a heart at stake.

These specialized cells, they stand their ground,
Resistant to the acid's fierce surround,
Yet in their strength, a paradox unfolds,
Adenocarcinoma's tale it holds.

A cancer's specter, lurking close, unseen,
The risk, though low, forever keen,
Regular monitoring, the vigilant eye,
To catch potential changes, not to let them fly.

In endoscopy's realm, the camera's eye,
Through mouth to esophagus, where truths lie,
The tissue's secrets, it will unveil,
A diagnosis made, and hope set sail.

With treatment, hope does spring, a guiding star,
To manage GERD, from near and far,
Lifestyle shifts, and medical aid,
Abnormal tissue's foe, in the barricade.

Barrett's esophagus, a name we know,
A journey marked by ebb and flow,
With healthcare's guidance, light's path is shown,
To face the risk, and not to walk alone.
