In the corridors of the mind, a silent storm does brew,
A tale of fading memories, a heartache deeply true.
Alzheimer's, a cruel dancer, on the stage of the brain,
Leaves in its wake a sorrow, a melody of pain.

A progressive waltz through time, a neurodegenerative tune,
Weaving through the corridors, a fading afternoon.
Cognitive threads unravel, like whispers lost in air,
A decline in recollection, a burden hard to bear.

Beta-amyloid plaques, like shadows in the night,
Tau tangles, twisted branches, in the fading light.
Communication falters, in this cerebral ballet,
Cell by cell, the atrophy, in the mind's slow decay.

Mild at first, a fleeting forgetfulness,
Confusion lingers, a haunting tenderness.
The dance intensifies, as memories slip away,
A symphony of struggle, in the light of day.

Language stumbles, in a maze of thought,
Problem-solving falters, a battle hard-fought.
The symphony crescendos, as time takes its toll,
A poignant, fading melody, the soul's gradual unscroll.

In the later stages, faces lose their names,
A heartbreaking script, in life's relentless games.
Recognition wanes, like stars that cease to gleam,
Speech and swallowing stumble, in a fading dream.

Full-time assistance, a tender, caring hand,
Navigating a world slipping like grains of sand.
No cure in sight, in this journey so profound,
But amidst the shadows, moments of love are found.

Genetic, environmental, life's intricate dance,
Factors intertwining in a fate-filled trance.
Age, the herald, with its somber toll,
A poignant reminder, of the stories untold.

No cure, but hope whispers in the research's breeze,
A quest for understanding, a longing for release.
Medications and interventions, a lifeline's embrace,
Managing the symptoms, a comforting grace.

In the silence of the mind, a resilient spark,
Love's enduring flame, cutting through the dark.
In the dance with shadows, in this uncharted quest,
May compassion be the guide, where hearts find their rest.
