Bioburden

Jan 24, 2024

Invisible to the naked eye,
Yet present everywhere we lie,
A world of tiny organisms,
That thrive on any living organisms.

Bioburden, they call it,
A hidden threat, we cannot omit,
Bacteria, fungi, and viruses,
Living within us, in crevices and creases.

They're not all bad, some are benign,
But others can make us ill, malign,
And so we strive to keep them at bay,
To protect ourselves, day by day.

From hospitals to the food we eat,
We monitor bioburden, never defeat,
For in this microscopic realm,
Lurks the potential for deadly overwhelm.

So let us be mindful of the bioburden,
And the role it plays in our world's garden,
For when we respect and control its power,
We safeguard our health, hour by hour.
