In the realm of kidneys, silent and unseen,
Lies a battle, a struggle, a medical scene.
Chronic renal failure, a foe hard to face,
Slowly steals function, leaving a trace.

Kidneys, those filters of life's flowing stream,
Balance electrolytes, a life-giving dream.
In their delicate dance, they maintain,
Blood pressure, waste, and fluids' refrain.

A journey through stages, from one to five,
Each step a challenge to keep hope alive.
Stage 1, a whisper of damage mild,
But as time marches on, it may compile.

Diabetes, a culprit with blood sugar high,
Damages vessels, making the kidneys sigh.
Hypertension, the silent thief, uncontrolled,
Strains those vessels, a story unfolds.

Glomerulonephritis, inflammation's cruel play,
Affects the units that filter day by day.
Polycystic kidney disease, an inherited blight,
Forms cysts that disrupt kidney's might.

Infections and stones, and more they endure,
Kidneys can suffer from ailments obscure.
Yet in the shadows, they silently strive,
To keep us alive, they fiercely survive.

But as time marches on, the symptoms may show,
Fatigue, swelling, and changes in the flow.
Nausea and focus that starts to decay,
A call to action as they begin to betray.

End-stage renal disease, a daunting plight,
Where the kidneys falter, unable to fight.
Dialysis or transplant, the path to survive,
A second chance at life, the chance to revive.
