In the realm of eyes, a malady does appear,
Conjunctivitis, known as "pink eye," we fear.
A delicate veil, the conjunctiva, its name,
Envelopes the eye, in health or in flame.

One eye or both, it does not discriminate,
This condition, with symptoms we can't negate.
Redness in the whites, like a rose in full bloom,
A telltale sign, as it casts its dark gloom.

Irritation and itching, a gritty sensation,
An unending discomfort, a relentless vexation.
Tears flow in excess, a watery cascade,
Or discharges of colors, like a painter's charade.

Swelling eyelids, they puff and they swell,
As if a secret the eye cannot tell.
Light becomes cruel, a piercing delight,
In sensitivity, we shield from the light.

Blurred vision, a world in haze,
Through the misty veil, we gaze.
Conjunctivitis, a condition diverse,
From causes, it suffers, in its universe.

Viruses may strike, with no remedy near,
Viral conjunctivitis, we hold back a tear.
No antiviral sword, no magic to wield,
With patience, it heals, as fate has revealed.

Bacteria, too, can take its cruel toll,
Bacterial conjunctivitis, a dark, shadowy role.
Antibiotics the shield, a warrior's might,
To vanquish the infection and bring back the light.

Allergic conjunctivitis, when allergens play,
Their tricks on the eye, in the light of the day.
Antihistamines and care, we employ as our quest,
To calm the eye's storms, to bring it to rest.

Irritant conjunctivitis, from foreign things,
Chemicals, debris, what each moment brings.
With care and eye washes, the eye shall recover,
From the irritants that caused it to suffer.

Seek out a healer, an eye doctor, so wise,
To discern the cause and unveil the surprise.
In their hands, we find solace and grace,
They guide us with care, a warm, tender embrace.

And in the end, with these words, we remind,
Good hygiene and care, as we leave them behind.
Handwashing and caution, our shield and our wall,
To protect others and self, and prevent the eye's fall.

Conjunctivitis, it may come and it may go,
In the world of the eye, it puts on its show.
With treatment and care, we shall overcome,
This challenge of vision, for everyone.
