In the body's realm where blood doth flow,
A tale of sugar's ebb and woe,
Diabetes, chronic, relentless might,
Steals from health its tranquil light.

A dance of glucose, out of line,
Insulin's role, a lifeline fine,
Yet here it falters, does not yield,
The body's energy, unconcealed.

Type 1, a child’s fate it seals,
Autoimmune, the beta cells steals,
Lifelong needles, a careful plight,
Managing sugar, day and night.

Type 2, in shadows, slowly creeps,
With lifestyle's whisper, secrets keeps,
Resistance grows, insulin wanes,
Exercise and diet, the reins.

Gestational's brief but cautious tide,
In pregnancy’s gentle glide,
A mother's vigilance, a baby's grace,
To keep at bay a later chase.

Rare forms, less known, yet just as stern,
Genetic whispers, conditions churn,
Each with stories, unique in thread,
In the tapestry of health they're spread.

Symptoms speak in thirsty cries,
Frequent trips, and weight's demise,
Fatigue and vision blurred by mist,
Healing slow, infections persist.

Untamed, it wounds the heart’s embrace,
Nerves fray, kidneys lose their place,
Eyes grow dim, and feet do pain,
Infections rise, the skin's disdain.

Diagnosis through blood’s clear voice,
Monitoring, the constant choice,
HbA1c, a long-term sight,
Fasting tests, morning’s first light.

Prevention stands, a sturdy guard,
Healthy living, though often hard,
Diet, exercise, weight in line,
Check-ups, habits intertwine.

Manage well, this chronic foe,
Insulin, meds, a balanced glow,
Sugar's highs and lows, we chase,
In vigilance, find our grace.

Through science, care, and daily fight,
We seek to keep our future bright,
Diabetes, tamed by life’s embrace,
A journey shared, with measured pace.
