In throats, a fiery pain takes hold,
A bacterial tale often told,
Group A Streptococcus, unseen,
Turns clear days into a fevered dream.

Sudden onset, sore throat’s bite,
Swollen tonsils, red as night,
White patches, streaks of pus appear,
Tiny red spots bring new fear.

Lymph nodes swell, tender, tight,
Fever burns through day and night,
Headaches pound, and rashes rise,
Body aches, tears in young eyes.

Nausea comes, small stomachs churn,
For relief, the body yearns.
A swab, a test, the doctors seek,
In search of answers, swift and sleek.

Rapid tests, results so quick,
Or cultures growing, slow but slick.
Penicillin, amoxicillin’s might,
Battles bacteria, ends the plight.

Pain relievers ease the ache,
Rest and fluids, steps to take,
Salt water gargles, lozenges soothe,
Home remedies, the symptoms smooth.

Untreated, danger lurks ahead,
Rheumatic fever, heart in dread,
Kidneys suffer, glomerulonephritis strikes,
Abscesses, infections spike.

Prevent with hygiene, wash with care,
Don't share cups, be aware,
Avoid the sick, keep distance clear,
Till antibiotics end the fear.

In this fight, knowledge holds the key,
To beat strep throat, for you and me.
