In the peritoneal space it hides,
Where organs rest and life abides.
Fluid gathers, swelling grows,
A silent tale of hidden woes.

A liver scarred, in cirrhosis' grasp,
Ascites forms, a painful clasp.
With heart that fails, or kidneys weak,
Infections, cancers, havoc wreak.

Bloating, swelling, breath so tight,
A burden carried, day and night.
Weight that rises, girth expands,
A plea for help, a body's demands.

To treat this plight, we seek the cause,
With dietary shifts, we hope to pause.
Medications slow the flow,
Procedures drain what’s built below.

Through trials faced, the path is hard,
Yet hope remains, a steadfast guard.
For in the fight against this tide,
Resilience and care reside.
