In the stomach’s silent realm, delays reside,
Where meals once savored now seem to hide.
Gastroparesis casts its shadow long,
A rhythm broken, where it should be strong.

Food lingers where it ought to flow,
Held captive by muscles moving slow.
Nausea rises like a whispered pain,
And fullness arrives before you’ve feasted again.

Bloating swells, the body feels tight,
A meal’s small pleasure, now a distant flight.
Early satiety brings hunger to cease,
But the heartburn lingers, offering no peace.

The vagus nerve, a damaged guide,
Leads to a journey where symptoms abide.
Diabetes, surgeries, or medicines too,
Can turn the stomach’s dance askew.

Yet within this condition, hope still gleams,
In careful meals and medical dreams.
With motility drugs or pacemakers’ grace,
We strive to restore a normal pace.

Though gastroparesis may linger long,
The spirit to heal remains strong.
Each step forward, a battle won,
Until the day the healing’s done.
