Silent thief within the bread,
Hidden where we least expect,
A storm within the gut it spreads,
Leaving lives in dire effect.

Grains of gold to some, to few,
A poison wrapped in doughy guise,
Raging war where life ensues,
Beneath the skin, unseen it lies.

Bread and pasta, cakes and more,
Delights that some cannot partake,
For gluten’s grip, it shuts the door,
And bodies suffer, hearts do ache.

In the shadow, symptoms bloom,
A spectrum wide, from pain to rash,
Nutrient loss, fatigue, and gloom,
A life that changed in one swift flash.

Diagnosis through the blood,
Or tissue sampled from within,
Reveals the damage and the flood,
Of antibodies beneath the skin.

Treatment’s path is strict and clear,
A diet free from gluten’s touch,
With care and vigilance sincere,
Healing follows, though it's much.

Malnutrition, bones so weak,
Infertility, the nerves in pain,
Untreated, future can look bleak,
A heavy burden to sustain.

But hope is found in knowledge bright,
In labels read, and plans made true,
Support from loved ones, shining light,
In every meal, a life anew.

A lifelong journey, day by day,
Yet with each step, the road unfolds,
A gluten-free and safer way,
To live, to love, with dreams upheld.
