Beneath the sun's relentless rays,
Melasma forms in subtle grays.
First, on cheeks and forehead wide,
It paints its map, no place to hide.

Because the light ignites the skin,
Melanocytes grow deep within.
And so, the sun, though bright and fair,
Brings darker hues to faces bare.

Moreover, hormones play their part,
In pregnancy, they take to heart.
The "mask of pregnancy" they call,
A shifting shade for one and all.

Genetics too, a fateful guide,
Through family lines, it may abide.
Furthermore, darker skin will bear
The mark more often, unaware.

However, there are paths to take,
To lighten patches for beauty’s sake.
Topical creams may hold the key,
Hydroquinone works carefully.

Then chemical peels and lasers bright,
Resurface skin, reclaim its light.
Meanwhile, a hat, and sunscreen’s glow,
Protect the skin from further woe.

In conclusion, the battle's long,
Yet hope remains where treatments throng.
Though melasma may reappear,
Consistent care keeps beauty near.
